Ku Wen-min
Floral art creator
Graduated from the Department of Industrial Design at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, she creates floral art and is passionate about the aesthetics of conflict.
The so-called conflict and destruction do not refer to destruction in a literal sense; they also represent an attitude and a spirit, emphasizing breaking free from conventional frameworks and thinking from different perspectives. Destructive floral art does not involve actual destruction, but rather the destruction of established thought frameworks, reassembling them and infusing them with one’s own soul, using design to create different visual expressions in floral art and redefine the relationship between people, plants, and space.
Conflict AestheticsI use craftsmanship, sculpture, and design techniques to create a conflict aesthetic between plants and me in space!

Q & A
Q: How do you start your day?
Q: Where do you most often spend your time?
Q: Which restaurant do you visit most often?
Q: What do you do for entertainment after work?
Q: What is the most recent book you have read? What insights or thoughts did you have after finishing it?
A: Modern Design Meets Traditional Craftsmanship: Toshiyuki Kita recommends this book, which discusses the integration of traditional industries with modern industrial design, using design to transform the circumstances faced by traditional industries in the current era and redefine their value! The book explains that while engaging with traditional crafts, Mr. Toshiyuki Kita gained an in-depth understanding of the entire manufacturing process and the local cultural background. Only through design and discussion can one create works that infuse objects with soul. When traditional craftsmanship is imbued with soul through design, it creates resonance and warmth between the craft and the product, enabling users to sense and appreciate the culture of local traditional industries and gain a deeper understanding of it.
For me, it is very important to understand and discover the perspectives of traditional crafts. This requires the accumulation of time and experience, as well as the ability to put ideas into action. Seeing so much expertise in the book, I am deeply impressed. It has transformed the design capabilities of traditional crafts and revealed new forms of traditional craftsmanship. When a product possesses both meaningful aesthetics and design functionality, its value is elevated to another level.
Watching how Mr. Kita challenges and executes each practical case was the part that interested me most—the cross-disciplinary thinking, the fusion of Eastern and Western design, the warmth generated by craft products integrated into everyday life, and the perspective of considering the value of traditional crafts in the future.
