Q & A

Q: How do you start your day?
A: Breakfast, a cup of coffee, and a book. I only get to read about two or three pages before I have to take my child to school.

Q: Where do you most often spend your time?
A: Dazhi and Neihu—if you would like to have a chance encounter with me, you can spend more time around the Meiti Riverside Park area in Dazhi.

Q: Which restaurant do you go to most often?

A:Yellow LemonIf there are a lot of people, you can order the desserts at YELLOW ART, which combine artistic creations. The chef’s live performance is quite novel.

Osteria by Angie Authentic Italian Cuisine RestaurantThe ingredients are fresh and not overly seasoned; only olive oil is used in the cooking, and the dining atmosphere is also pleasant.

Pinpin Non-Rice FoodsThe name is very unique, and the owner has a distinctive personality. The steamed meat with stinky tofu... absolutely exceptional!!

Q: What do you do for fun after work?
A: Exercise and spending time with my family (You probably think I’m pretty boring!)

Q: What is the most recent book you read? Did it give you any insights or leave you with any thoughts after you finished it?

A: *Thank You for Being Late*, by Thomas L. Friedman, a New York Times columnist. This book discusses the impact of new technology trends on our lives.

Why does he say, “Thank you for being late”? When he was working as a journalist, guests would occasionally arrive late, which gave him a little more time to think, look around, and listen to the different sounds around him. As a result, he gained a lot of inspiration. So when the guest arrived and said, “I’m sorry I’m late!” he would reply, “No, thank you for being late!” This also reflects another optimistic attitude toward life. This book covers international politics, technological development, market trends, ethics, and the natural environment. It is a comprehensive book that organizes important issues for the present and the future. It is quite a thick book, but if you are interested, you can take a look. Highly recommended.

Q: What do you find most interesting or appealing about Taiwan?
A: I really enjoy visiting Taitung, especially the Dulan area. It offers an entirely different landscape and pace of life, with many international residents and a high level of cultural inclusivity. Every visit helps me relax. The scenery at Luye Highland is also wonderful. Taiwan’s landscapes are truly no less impressive than those abroad.

Q: What do you look forward to most when staying at a hotel?
A: “Thoughtful touches” When I stay at a hotel, I care about whether I can experience a design that resonates with the local culture. This gives me a lot of inspiration. It should be more than just a room and a bed; a sense of human warmth is also very important.

Q: What is your impression of the hotels under Taipei Hotel?
A: Absolutely!! (Laughs) After staying here for so many years, I’ve always found it wonderful, whether in terms of its location or its hardware and software facilities. The environmental design incorporates works by local artists, giving these creative artists an additional platform to showcase themselves. I think this is very rare—it makes the space thoughtful and imbued with a sense of humanity.
